Safety should be part of every business, no matter what size it is. The Chamber brings this message to its members and the community through its sponsorship of the Fostoria Area Safety Council. The Council receives support from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene. By participating in Safety Council, members can be eligible for a rebate on their workers’ compensation premium.
The Council’s mission is to serve businesses and individuals and advance the safety knowledge and training in the community. We work to provide increased safety awareness through the combined efforts of companies, the BWC and the community at large. Our goals are:
- To provide a forum for businesses and industries interested in occupational safety and health.
- To examine and resolve potential and existing safety and health problems.
- To inform participants of new safety and health techniques, products and services and to provide a thorough knowledge of these services.
- To encourage safety programs through a safety campaign.
Membership in the Safety Council is open to representatives of business and industry interested in developing increased safety awareness. The annual membership fee is $120 per company representative, which covers the monthly lunch meetings from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. held on the third Wednesday at Fostoria Community Hospital. The meetings include a program on a safety topic selected by the membership.
